2021 Kia Stonic GT-Line launch review

We can debate whether the 2021 Kia Stonic is a high-riding hatchback or a city SUV, but what we do know is that buyers can’t get enough of this type of car. The second was the Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC), which was active between 1994 and 1998. It superseded Group A racing, which we saw in Australia up until 1993.

In 2018, Kia reportedly sold 1957 Stingers. That's 163 a month when averaged out over the year. 2019 and 2020's results were similar – 1773 and 1778 respectively, a pip under 150 cars a month for two years.

2021 BMW 530d LCI review

On the Island of Dr Moreau, H.G.Wells describes a horrifying environment where humanoid animal hybrids (and I’m not talking about Val Kilmer) are ‘engineered’ by a mad scientist, seeking to find perfection. Moreau creates unnatural answers to questions that nature never asked; a hyena-pig, a fox-bear, a goat-ape. Combinations that shouldn’t work, but in the world of science fiction do, to a point.

2020 Hyundai Venue Elite long-term review: Farewell

Any time I see a post about the Hyundai Venue small SUV on social media, or bring it up in conversation, the discussion invariably turns to its appearance. When I first drove the Venue early on in my tenure at CarAdvice, I relished its simplicity, ease of use and sense of fun. I also maintain that, in denim blue with a white roof and matching denim interior, it’s one of the more attractive small SUVs out there.

2021 GWM Ute Cannon L review

The 2021 GWM Ute enters the market as the first product from a revised and rebranded Great Wall. In an attempt to distance itself from branding efforts of the past, GWM wants to be known for value, as opposed to Great Wall’s focus on cut-price. The naming, perhaps, could have been a little better thought out. GWM’s ute is called the Ute. Three spec levels are available: Cannon, Cannon L and Cannon X – so then, why not just the GWM Cannon?

2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range review

I have a confession to make: up until late 2020, I had never driven a Tesla. I’d written about the brand more times than I could count and watched countless YouTube videos about its cars. Plus, I’d fostered an unhealthy obsession with Elon Musk’s bizarrely engrossing Twitter account since before I can remember. And yet, I’d only been in a Model S once – as a passenger, when I was in my early 20s and my friend’s dad offered us a lift to show off his new car.

Lada Niva reunited with its original name and officially declared a Legend

Hot on the heels of its successor being (finally) announced, everyone’s favourite ‘they still make that?’ car, the Lada Niva, is now officially called the Niva again, but this time will be referred to as the Lada Niva Legend. Virtually unchanged since it entered production in 1976, the classic Niva had its name changed to Lada 4x4 in 2006, because a joint venture between Lada and GM saw a new unibody SUV enter the market in 1999, called the Chevy Niva.

2020 Ram 1500 Warlock off-road review

The Ram 1500 has let the cat out of the bag: Australians like American utes. While smaller conversion houses have been bubbling away for some time supplying a small but steady stream of converted yank tanks of varying quality, Ram Trucks Australia has set the tone for a more official, factory-backed operation. And even with a 24-hour conversion facility in Melbourne running flat-stick, they’re having trouble keeping up with demand.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay? This clip is by no means new – it surfaces every few years, in fact – but that doesn't make it any less entertaining.

2021 Honda CR-V VTi-X review

The Honda CR-V was one of the pioneers of the mid-size SUV segment. In the late 1990s, the concept was still a novelty. Now SUVs are mainstream, comfortably outselling small hatchbacks – and sedans of all shapes and sizes. In its early days, the Honda CR-V was one of the biggest sellers in the class (alongside the original Toyota RAV4).Honda was so invested in the idea of weekend getaway cars, the first Honda CR-V came with a picnic table stored under the boot floor.

As of the end of year, it has begun to show signs of recovery. 2020, to the surprise of many, ended on a high, with sales in December up 13.5 per cent versus the same time last year.

2021 Mazda BT-50 GT 4x4 dual-cab review

To the end of 2020, nearly half the 4x4 utes sold in Australia were made by either Ford or Toyota. In a busy and lucrative market, everyone else wants a slice of that success, not least Mazda with a scant 4.7 per cent share of the 4x4 segment by the end of 2020. The 2021 Mazda BT-50 is all-new, and as has been well documented already, comes from a production partnership with Isuzu in place of previous partner, Ford. The styling may be Mazda’s, but the bones are Isuzu’s – which is no bad thing.

Video: 2021 Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 Review

The perfect Porsche? I know what you're thinking. How is a 718 Cayman the perfect Porsche? I mean, this is a 982, not a 992. And when you consider that when the 718 launched, it was hardly met with huge fan praise because they swapped out the traditional flat-six for a turbocharged four. Although, that's not a problem we're faced with in this car. You see the Cayman GT4 is packing a proper Porsche power plant.

2021 Toyota GR Yaris review

There’s absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the 2020 GR Yaris was a bargain at $39,950 drive-away. There’s also no doubt about the feverish excitement that greeted its announcement and arrival. Is a hybrid on your ‘maybe’ list for your next new car? If you’re anything like me, and probably most other Australians, I’m going to suggest it is. But the market is maybe just a little narrow and perhaps a bit confusing for you to be able to know for sure, right? To want to make the step, but to also not want to make the step is a pretty common place to be in the decision-making process, which is why a car like the 2021 Lexus LX450h Luxury makes it easy.
