Mercedes-AMG burnout gone wrong: Sydney man charged after car catches fire

It was supposed to be a daring burnout in a $170,000 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe in front of a crowd in a quiet suburban street in Sydney. However, rather than spinning the rear tyres, the car caught fire – caused by a suspected overheating transmission. The driver might have got away with the stunt, had the fire not scorched the roadway, requiring emergency services to attend. According to NSW Police, the driver initially claimed the car "had caught fire while being driven down the road".
