2026 Nissan Patrol Nismo to bring ultra-aggressive styling: ‘It’s a beast’
Nissan is working on the hardcore Nismo version of its new Patrol large SUV.
The hardcore Nismo version of the new-generation 2025 Nissan Patrol will look like “a beast” according to the brand’s senior designer who has seen an early clay model version of the performance SUV.
Speaking to media, Nissan senior vice president for global design Alfonso Albaisa jokingly claimed the new Nissan Patrol Nismo design was so aggressive, that it kept him up at night.
“When I first saw it, I didn’t sleep for four days,” he said.
Albaisa revealed the new Nismo is well into development, indicating a potential reveal next year and a market launch not long thereafter.

“When I saw the milled clay – because when you see sketches and things like that, you lose a sense of the scale of the thing – it’s a beast,” he said.
As a reminder, the seventh-generation Y63 Nissan Patrol was revealed in early September, but won’t hit Australian showrooms until late 2026 with left-hand-drive markets being the priority for the brand.
Headlining the changes to the new car is a Nissan GT-R-related 317kW/700Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine, replacing the 298kW/560Nm 5.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 of the old car.
A key characteristic of the outgoing Y62 Patrol, and its V8 engine, is exhaust noise, an attribute enhanced by Nismo.
Premcar, an Australian engineering firm that has partnered with Nissan to build the range of off-road-enhanced Warrior variants for the Navara and Patrol, is also aware of the V8’s aural appeal and fitted a side-exit exhaust to the large SUV.
Albaisa would not be drawn on whether the new Y63 Patrol Nismo would match its predecessor in exhaust note, but said the demise of the V8 engine was inevitable.
“I’m not saying we’re doing that, but of course there are synthetic sounds that people do,” he said.
“Obviously we have more power and more torque, but undeniably most of the questions I get are about the eight.
“This is part of life.”
As a reminder, the outgoing Patrol Nismo was available in Middle Eastern markets and featured a 21kW increase in power, as well as Bilstein suspension and 22-inch forged-alloy wheels.
Like with all Nismo models, a more aggressive body kit with red accenting was also added to justify the sportier badge.
It is expected Nissan will apply the same recipe to the new Y63 Patrol to create its Nismo flagship.
It remains unclear whether the new Patrol Nismo, unlike its predecessor, will make its way into Australian showrooms.
