South Australian P-plater crashes car through bridge

Authorities said the novice driver crashed the car over the edge of the bridge, where it fell five metres before it landed on its roof. Police confirmed the young driver did not sustain any serious injuries.

A South Australian provisional driver walked away relatively unharmed following an incident where they allegedly crashed their car through a barrier of an overpass bridge.

According to South Australia Police’s Facebook post, the 17-year-old drove his Mitsubishi 380 over the edge of the Linear Park bridge along Ascot Avenue in Vale Park – a suburb approximately 7.4km northeast of Adelaide – on 16 June 2024.

Authorities said the sedan dropped by five metres following the crash and landed on its roof – with police confirming the novice motorist did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.

South Australia Police said they are investigating the crash and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
