Rideshare driver attacked, police search for thieves who stole his car

New South Wales Police are investigating the assault which has left the man hospitalised and without his work vehicle.

A rideshare driver is being treated for head injuries after allegedly being assaulted by two men who then stole his car.

Police are investigating the assault and vehicle theft, which took place at 1:35 am on Monday morning in Sydney’s north-west.

Officers were called to the scene at the intersection of Kindelan Road and Gibbon Road in Winston Hills, alongside paramedics, to reports of a 49-year-old rideshare driver having been attacked.

According to police, the driver accepted a booking from two men at an address in Box Hill about 12:35 am before taking them to several locations – including a service station on Penure Street, Rouse Hill, where they purchased food before returning to the car.

The pair then allegedly asked the driver to take them to more addresses, before carrying out the assault.

The driver fled from the vehicle – a white 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan – which the two men are accused of making off with.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 49-year-old at the scene before he was taken to Blacktown Hospital in a stable condition with head and facial injuries.

Police are urging anyone who may have information about the matter to contact Parramatta Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
