2026 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing special edition revealed as F1 celebration

A limited edition of Cadillac’s V8 Blackwing sedan has been unveiled to mark the US car brand’s entry into Formula One.

Cadillac is marking its entry into Formula One with its most powerful V8 production car ever, the CT5-V Blackwing Formula 1 Collectors Series.

Just 26 units will be produced, a number chosen to signify 2026 as the last year of production of the CT5-V Blackwing, with a direct successor for the 6.2-litre supercharged V8-powered sedan yet to be confirmed.

It is claimed to be the first US production car to wear official Formula One badging, fully sanctioned by the FIA, F1 and Cadillac, and uses the brand’s most powerful V8 yet.

The 6.2-litre supercharged unit produces 511kW (685 horsepower) and 912Nm, up from the regular Blackwing’s 498kW and 893Nm, via an upgraded supercharger with a CNC-machined cover.

It is matched with a six-speed manual transmission, and all examples are fitted with the Precision Package, which adds retuned suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R track-day tyres.

The special edition is finished in Midnight Stone Frost paint, with Carbon Flash grey wheels, Harbor Grey brake calipers, gloss black exterior badges, and carbon-fibre lower body elements wearing a silver pinstripe.

An F1 logo is stamped into the door, while a red F1 emblem is added to the rear spoiler, and an FIA logo sits on the side rocker panels.

Inside, the seat headrests feature embossed F1 logos, the shifter is topped with a 3D-printed F1-branded medallion, and Cadillac F1 branding appears on the sill plates.

Prices of the standard Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing start at USD$102,795 (AUD$142,000), and while the RRP of this special edition is yet to be released, it is expected to be significantly higher.

As Cadillac is an electric-only brand in Australia, and the CT5 range is not produced in right-hand drive, the latest special edition will not come to local showrooms.

BYD Dolphin electric-car arrival pushed back, due later this year alongside Seal sedan

Chinese electric-car giant BYD’s next two models for Australia – the city-sized Dolphin and larger Seal – are due closer to the end of this year than previously forecast. The Australian arrival of the BYD Dolphin electric hatchback has been delayed to the second half of this year, ahead of the BYD Seal electric sedan due before year’s end.
