2026 Kia EV6 price and specs: Updated Model Y, Ioniq 5 electric car rival arrives after two-year wait

The updated Kia EV6 electric SUV has arrived in Australia two years after its debut, with design tweaks, a larger battery, and Kia Connect telematics.

  • 2026 Kia EV6 pricing and specifications
  • Delayed electric SUV now arriving in Australia
  • Larger battery, Kia Connect and wireless phone mirroring
  • Priced from $72,660 before on-road costs

The 2026 Kia EV6 electric SUV has arrived in Australia – nearly two years after its debut in Korea – with design changes, a larger battery, technology improvements and a $70 price increase across the range.

Priced from $72,660 before on-road costs, the Kia EV6 remains available in four grades: Air RWD, GT-Line RWD, GT-Line AWD and GT AWD.

Originally forecast to arrive in Australia by the end of 2024, revisions include a new 84kWh battery – up from 77.4kWh – for an increase in WLTP driving range of 26 to 56 kilometres, depending on the grade.

The 2026 EV6 also features a revised front-end design with Kia’s ‘Star Map’ lighting signature, new 19-, 20- and 21-inch alloy wheels, a tweaked LED tail-light signature, and new rear bumpers.

Inside, it gains Kia’s latest ‘ccNC’ infotainment software, enabling wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections, along with Kia Connect telematics in Australia.

Other changes include additional USB-C ports, an updated lane-following assist system, a new steering wheel – now two-spoke in the Air or three-spoke in the GT-Line and GT – and a “sleek new finish” centre console with the removal of gloss-black material.

Full synthetic leather upholstery is now fitted to the EV6 Air, replacing its part-cloth trim.

The GT-Line and GT also gain the updated Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 system and a fingerprint reader to switch between driver profiles, while the wide glass sunroof is now standard in the GT-Line RWD rather than limited to AWD grades.

Now matching the related Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the EV6 GT has increased outputs to 448kW and 740Nm in normal driving and 478kW/770Nm in launch control mode – up from 430kW – but with an unchanged 3.5sec 0-100km/h acceleration claim.

The GT also receives a Virtual Gear Shift feature to replicate the gear shifts of a petrol-engined performance car, along with “stiffer rear sway bars” and “softer front springs” globally, resulting in a second round of localised suspension and steering tuning to reflect the hardware changes.

Kia Australia said the GT’s changes result in improved dynamics across all drive modes – including a new customisable ‘MY DRIVE’ mode, added across the EV6 range – particularly on rough road surfaces.

The GT also gains an electric steering column, while it now retains the GT-Line’s power-adjustable and ventilated front seats – but still omits power lumbar support and the ‘premium relaxation’ tilt function.

Rear-wheel-drive EV6 grades use a 168kW/350Nm electric motor, with a 560km WLTP driving range rating for the Air (up from 528km) and a 560km WLTP driving range rating for the GT-Line (up from 504km).

The GT-Line AWD features a 165kW/350Nm rear electric motor and a 74kW/255Nm front electric motor for a combined 239kW and 605Nm, with a 522km WLTP driving range rating (up from 484km).

New metallic paint colours include Interstellar Grey for the Air and Wolf Grey for the GT-Line and GT, while matte paint finishes have been deleted from the EV6 range in Australia.
