Aston Martin Valhalla: Australia’s new most expensive car

Rough local pricing for the Aston Martin Valhalla has been announced as the model gears up for its arrival in Australia.

The Aston Martin Valhalla will take top spot as Australia’s most expensive car as local pricing overtakes the Ferrari SF90 XX Spider.

At a showing of an international testing vehicle in Sydney, Regional Operations Manager, ANZ for Aston Martin, Nathan Lowe, said that Australian allocations are yet to be announced, but gave a rough price.

“I can’t tell you [our allocation], but I do know how many [Australia will get]. Pricing will be a tad under two million before on-roads,” said Lowe.

Pricing set just below will top the 2026 Ferrari SF90 XX Spider, which is currently priced at $1,730,100 plus on-road costs.

Using a round $2 million for calculation purposes, an additional $99,100 in stamp duty and an additional $575,830 in luxury car tax (LCT) will need to be paid before the car sees public roads.

The mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar is five years behind schedule with its launch in Australia initially supposed to be in 2021, with international customers receiving a handful in December 2025.

First shown in 2019 as a concept, it was initially supposed to receive a twin-turbocharged V6 before the internal combustion engine was swapped out for a Mercedes-Benz M178, the same twin-turbocharged V8 that powers the Mercedes-AMG GT but with Aston Martin enhancements.

Combined power is boosted up to 792kW/1100Nm with the help of three electric motors – two on the front axle and one mated to the transmission in the rear.

The Valhalla utilises carbon fiber for its monocoque, panels, and parts of the chassis to drop the weight down to 1655kg.

The 457kW per tonne figure boosts the Valhalla from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds, with top speed set at 350km/h.

Aston Martin claims that the active aero on the new hypercar can produce over 600kg of downforce at 240km/h in ‘Track Mode’, similar to an F1 car at around 120km/h.

Despite the delays, you might be hard-pressed to get your hands on one in Australia, as construction is limited to 999 units internationally, and Aston Martin has depositors from various backgrounds.

“We’ve had deposits for a long time. We’ve been showcasing the car well before it was launched and have had a lot of depositors from that time,” said Lowe.

“Because we have not done a car like this before, we’ve got existing owners, and we’ve also got new owners from the traditional, mid-engined supercar companies as well.”

This specific Valhalla will be doing a tour of Australia, going to Queensland, then the Melbourne Grand Prix, Adelaide, and Perth before it gets shipped back to the Aston Martin factory in Warwickshire, England.
