2026 Zeekr 8X PHEV officially revealed with 328km electric range
Zeekr’s new luxury plug-in hybrid offers almost as much electric driving range as some EVs.
The 2026 Zeekr 8X PHEV has been officially revealed, confirming earlier leaked details about the new luxury SUV.
The new SUV is underpinned by the same platform as the Lotus Eletre and Emeya, suggesting a more sports-car-oriented feel for the new model.
The new Zeekr shares other Geely Group systems too, with Zeekr’s larger 9X SUV providing the battery and drivetrain hardware for the 8X.
Despite being smaller than the 9X, the Zeekr 8X still measures 5100mm long, 1998mm wide, and has a 3069mm wheelbase.

The dimensions make it 139mm shorter than the flagship 9X, and roughly the same length as an Audi Q7.
Zeekr has confirmed that both five- and six-seat versions will be available, with individually adjustable second-row captain’s chairs in the six-seat model.
Zeekr is yet to confirm full powertrain details, but information logged with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology reveals a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, producing 205kW.
A choice of 55.1kWh or 70kWh batteries will be available, with the shorter-range model rated to cover 256km on electric power alone, or up to 328km from the high-capacity version, based on more lenient Chinese rating protocols than those used in Australia.

In the 9X, the 70kW battery is capable of ‘6C’ charging speeds, or peak charging at six times the battery’s capacity (420kW) on a compatible charger, although Zeekr advertises the 9X with a slightly higher 500kW charging capability.
Details of the electric motors are yet to be revealed, but with the 8X sharing its engine with the larger 9X, it seems likely the new model may follow the 9X in offering a three-motor, 1030kW combined output all-wheel drive system.
The lightest version of the 8X has a kerb weight of 2660kg, with the heaviest weighing in at 2820kg – around 180kg more than the heaviest version of the Lotus Eletre with which it shares its platform.
Styling of the new 8X looks similar to Zeekr vehicles like the 009 People mover and 9X SUV, with a prominent chrome grille and C-shaped LED headlights.

Unlike the squared-off 9X, however, the 8X adopts a slightly more rounded form, with prominent sculpting through the doors, and a rounded side window profile with a slightly tapered roofline.
For the Chinese market, the 8X will come with a choice of 20-, 21-, or 22-inch wheels.
The 2026 Zeekr 8X will go on sale in China before the middle of 2026, and the new model is expected to be made available in markets outside China, with export plans to be revealed later in the year.
