2024 Skoda Enyaq electric SUV due in Australia next year alongside updated Octavia, Scala, Kamiq

Skoda’s first electric vehicle for Australia is due next year, alongside updated versions of three of its smallest cars.

The 2024 Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV is due in Australian showrooms next year – a few months later than previously anticipated – alongside updated versions of the Scala hatch, Octavia sedan and wagon, and Kamiq small SUV.

The Enyaq iV was previously earmarked to open orders and commence production for Australia in the second half of 2023, however it has been pushed to next year, for both Enyaq ‘wagon’ and sportier Enyaq Coupe body styles.

It is expected the first local showroom arrivals may commence in mid 2024 – though Skoda Australia is yet to confirm exact timing – at a similar time to the Skoda’s twins from Volkswagen, the ID.4 and ID.5.

Prices are yet to be confirmed, however rival mid-size electric SUVs span approximately $70,000 to $85,000 – while Volkswagen Australia says it is targeting a circa-$60,000 base price for the ID.4.

The model range is yet to be locked in. In Europe, there is a choice of battery sizes, power outputs and rear- or all-wheel-drive layouts, with up to 545km of claimed driving range, and 220kW/460Nm.

It is underpinned by the same MEB electric-car platform as other Volkswagen Group electric vehicles, and sits between the Karoq (4380mm long) and Kodiaq (4697mm) in size, at about 4560mm long and 1880mm wide.

The arrival of the electric Enyaq range will come about three to four years after its arrival in European showrooms at the end of 2020, as markets with strict emissions targets such as Europe given priority for electric-vehicle production.

It is due to arrive alongside mid-life facelifts for the Skoda Scala small hatchback, Octavia mid-size sedan and wagon, and Kamiq small SUV, about three years after they arrived in Australia.

These vehicles are expected to introduce styling updates inside and out, Skoda headquarters in Europe has indicated.

New generations of the Kodiaq large SUV and Superb large car are due to be unveiled in the second half of this year, but Australian arrival timing is yet to be locked in.
