Rolls-Royce unveils $37 million bespoke ‘Boat Tail’ convertible

Rolls-Royce – perhaps the world’s most prolific and prestigious manufacturer of luxury cars – has taken the covers off a new custom 'Boat Tail’ four-seat retro convertible, just days after confirming plans to revive its bespoke coachbuilding division. Underpinned by the BMW-owned brand’s now-ubiquitous Architecture of Luxury aluminium spaceframe, the 'Boat Tail’ is largely based on the existing Rolls-Royce Phantom limousine.

Chinese electric-car giant BYD’s next two models for Australia – the city-sized Dolphin and larger Seal – are due closer to the end of this year than previously forecast. The Australian arrival of the BYD Dolphin electric hatchback has been delayed to the second half of this year, ahead of the BYD Seal electric sedan due before year’s end. A major update for the world’s best-selling new car is around the corner, with “more obvious” exterior and interior upgrades. What the updated Model Y could look like, illustrated by Theottle. A facelift for the 2024 Tesla Model Y electric SUV may be less than nine months away – after a similar update to the related Model 3 sedan earlier this year – according to a new report. News agency Bloomberg reports Tesla has begun “preparation work” to ready its Shanghai, China factory for a “more obvious” exterior and interior update to the Model Y . Production “may start as soon as mid-2024”, according to the outlet – which could translate to Australian showroom arrivals by the end of next year, if the arrival timeline of the recent Model 3 update is a guide. Thai media outlets including Headlight Magazine report Mitsubishi has sent invites to local media for the new Triton’s unveiling in Bangkok on 26 July 2023. Drive has previously reported on a global unveiling around the middle of this year, ahead of showroom arrivals due late this year or early next year. The design of the new Triton was previewed by the XRT Concept shown in Thailand earlier this year , with a larger body and tray than today’s model.
