Why showrooms are running out of new cars

Car buyers are waiting months – and in some cases until early next year – to take delivery of new vehicles because a global shortage of semi conductors has temporarily slammed the brakes on car production lines. A year ago, car dealers were overstocked with new models as demand fell by almost 50 per cent, and had concerns they might close their doors forever as the COVID-19 pandemic started to take hold in Australia.
