Initial pricing and specifications for the facelifted 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA range have been announced, with the updated small crossover to kick off in Australia from $43,900 plus on-road costs.

Distinguished by a revised front grille, front and rear bumpers, along with new head- and tail-light clusters, the facelifted GLA also gets several equipment upgrades over the model it replaces.

All versions of the company’s smallest SUV will get full-LED headlights with LED daytime-running lights as standard, while all models bar the entry-level GLA180 also get keyless access and a motion-activated electric tailgate.

Inside, the range gets an upgraded instrument cluster, revised interior trims, and more silver chrome finishes.

Most models also get new alloy wheel designs, ranging from 18-inch rims on the GLA220d to 20-inch units on the flagship AMG GLA45 4Matic.

For the first time, the GLA is optionally available with a 360-degree camera system – which forms part of both the Vision or Parking Packages – previously reserved for more expensive Mercedes-Benz models, while two colour-oriented special-edition option packages are also available depending on variant.

The White Art Edition package is available across all non-AMG versions of the GLA, ranging from $3280 (GLA250 4Matic) to $3780 (GLA180 and GLA220d).

Extra equipment includes sports seats trimmed in Artico faux leather and microfibre cloth with contrasting topstitching, a sports steering wheel with microfibre highlights, white air vent surrounds, 19-inch bi-colour alloy wheels, and special matte striping.

Meanwhile, the AMG GLA45 is available with the Yellow Night Edition package ($3990), which adds the AMG Aerodynamics pack, AMG Performance sports seats in Artico man-made leather and Dinamica microfibre with yellow stitching, an AMG Performance steering wheel in full microfibre trim with yellow stitching, along with yellow trim elements throughout the cabin.

Externally, the option package adds yellow highlights on the front bumper, side sill panels, mirror housings, rear diffuser, 20-inch matte-black AMG alloy wheels and matte dark anthracite metallic striping.

Price increases affect most models bar the entry-level GLA180 and mid-spec GLA250 4Matic – which start at $43,900 and $60,700 before on-roads respectively.

Stay tuned for a full pricing and specifications breakdown when the updated GLA range arrives in the coming weeks.
