Skoda has compressed the roofline of its first dedicated electric car, creating the more aerodynamic Coupe body style – and in doing so introducing its most powerful car ever. The 2022 Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV has been revealed, as the sleeker-styled, coupe-inspired version of Skoda’s debut dedicated electric car – but there’s no firm word on when it will reach Australian showrooms. Due on sale in Europe later this year, the Enyaq Coupe iV rides on the same MEB modular electric architecture as Skoda’s standard Enyaq iV – but from the rear door back gains a sloping ‘coupe-styled’ roofline delivering styling and aerodynamic benefits. The Coupe body style also ushers in a new RS performance variant , with dual electric motors that develop 220kW combined – granting the electric SUV the title of Skoda’s most powerful production car . Thanks to its sleeker roofline – and a subtle flick in the shape of the tailgate – the Coupe claims a drag coefficient of 0.234, boosting the WL

Cupra has begun sharing equipment details of its Australian model range – starting with the Ateca small SUV, available in one fully-loaded variant with 221kW turbo-petrol power. The inbound Spanish performance division of the Volkswagen Group, Cupra , has released more details on one of the three new models it will launch this July, the 2022 Cupra Ateca mid-size performance SUV. New for Australia – but on sale in Europe since 2018, with a facelift in 2020 – the Ateca will launch locally with one fully-loaded ‘VZx’ variant, powered by a 221kW turbo four-cylinder engine, and equipped as standard with nearly all features offered by Cupra overseas. Prices will be confirmed closer to launch, however it’s believed it could slide in below $60,000 before on-road costs – undercutting its similarly-sized but more potent twins under the skin, the 228kW Cupra Formentor (estimated below $65,000) and 235kW Volkswagen Tiguan R ($68,990, following a cut in price and equipmen

Ford will take the Mustang GT3 racing in 2024 – and the car the company will enter looks to be based on the next-generation Mustang road car. Ford has teased a race-prepped version of its Mustang sports car poised to enter the GT3 racing series in 2024 – providing our first glimpse at the next-generation, road-going 2023 Ford Mustang , slated for launch next year. Developed by Ford Performance and race engineering firm (and Ford GT supercar builders) Multimatic, Ford will enter a Mustang in the world-class GT3 racing series in 2024, marking the brand’s return to the upper tiers of global sports car racing since the Ford GT bowed out in 2019. While Ford is yet to confirm this, the 2024 debut date means it’s likely the new Mustang GT3 will be based on the next-generation Mustang road car , codenamed S650 – rumoured to launch in 2023, tipped to eventually offer four-cylinder and/or V8 hybrid power (alongside non-hybrid options). One of Australia’s largest and most iconic car dealerships has been sold in a multimillion-dollar real estate deal, as land tax puts the squeeze on showrooms in prime locations. EXCLUSIVE Suttons City – one of Australia’s largest dealership sites, a new-car “supermarket” representing more than a dozen automotive brands in one location, and an iconic Sydney landmark – has been sold for an undisclosed sum to property developers. The site will close its doors on 30 June 2022 after opening 28 years ago – in 1994 – as a standalone Holden dealership. Back then, the Suttons Holden site at Rosebery was surrounded by vacant land and the remnants of its time as a manufacturing hub and an industrial zone in the decades prior. Today, Suttons City is surrounded by high-rise residential apartments, as population pressure continues to put the squeeze on demand for new property. Drive understands the owners of the Rosebery site – the Sutton family, who have operated car dea
